School

So far this year I have been called a bitch, a whore, a wench and an idiot.

I am determined to write about the things shouted out in class this year.

So far we have Chocolate Nudi, Chocolate Thunder, Dirty Dan, Richard Simmons, Dr. Coconuts, Dr. Nuts and Coochie Butt.

Things have been sung out like 5 dollar footlong for subway, or weeeee weeee piggy piggy from the commercial where the mom was driving hte pig home from school, freecreditscore.com

Today it was it is time for beaver fever.

And when you can't say Ole, you just say Hoeday!

And I can't forget Tasty Barbarque.

And everyday in October is Halloween - Happy Halloween.

When farting in class, my guy yells I passed gas and laughs.

More to come as the year goes on.

Jan. 5, 2010

I had an argument with my boyfriend last night. He has a 4 and a half year old daughter. He told her if she went to bed nicely at 9:00 p.m. at her mother's house that she would get some presents that were left over from Christmas from my family. Her mother was not feeling well, so he was trying to help out. Her mother said she stayed up until 12:30 a.m. Needless to say she did not go to bed nicely. So the follow through would have been to not get the presents. Well she got them. His reasoning was they were there staring her in the face and he did not think it was right not to give them to her. WTF?!?! And then he wonders why she asks the spoiled way she acts. It kills me.

I have discovered a success at school. My kids have been practicing typing on the computer and typed their new year's resolutions today. They did so well. It is good to see results from all the practicing!

The is a boy in my class that constantly pushes my buttons. He always has something to say after I say it or has some sound or something, so he can have the last word. I wonder what will come of him in the future. I think he is not headed for the right path!

One part of my day that I like is walking my autistic child to the bus. We have a routine and it is a minute or two that I can spend while he tells me whatever he says - usually how cold, or how far his bus driver, Ryan, parked up the road. I like it a lot!

My class reads a lot, like a lot a lot! We checked out of the library yesterday and about eight kids needed to check out today again because they finished their books. The only thing that is a downer is that the library ladies feel it is a great inconvenience to them. Don't we want our kids to want to read, to have a love for reading. They are hooked, let's not ruin it for them, this early in life. It will be shattered soon enough.

Jan. 4, 2004

Today was the first day back to school. I teach 4th grade in an inner city school. I have 23 kids in my class. I was dreading going back to school today. It was not that I hate it. That is not it at all. It is that after having winter break off that it is hard to get up again and be motivated to go to work. Once I was there I was fine and isn't that always how it goes!

When I got to school everyone asks, so did you get everything that you wanted? And my answer is no. It is selfish but it is reality. I was expecting to come back to school with a ring on my finger and no ring to show means I did not get everything I wanted. Will I get it, probably, but I just really wanted it over the vacation and really did think I was going to get it. And to make things worse, the secretary says that her daughter got engaged and one of the assistants tells me that her son asked his girlfriend to marry him. So that was a reality that I wish I was part of. Don't get me wrong, my boyfriend is sweet and very loving to me. He got me gifts on New Year's Eve/Day, such as 365 ways to show me that he loves me and a key that said key to my heart. It is ultra sweet. But I want to seal the deal with the ring to know!

Anyway, back to school. I get up to the classroom and the kids file in. One of my girls tells me that her mom said not to have anyone touch her face, an odd request I thought as no one touches her face, but whatever. I look at her cheek and she has stitches and bite marks on her face. Her pitbull dog bit into her face and tore it in 12 places. She had stitches and sores and bruises there. She said she was playing with the dog and got in his face and it bit her face so she said it was her fault. They had to get rid of the dog. Her face is certainly proof of what can happen when you are not careful around dogs and tease them too much.

Another little guy, who is mildly autistic, loves to tell me information. He told me today that he suspects that humans are closer to fish that people think. He said the fish spawn are like embryos of humans and that we could possibly have gills that have formed closed. He cannot get enough of this stuff. He wants me to watch it on Nova and I think he is just an awesome kid!

Well, the new year has started pretty well. I am going to try this year to be a little more organized. I have to get myself in gear! I cannot just leave things and have to place some stipulations on myself. That is all for now, maybe some organization now.
